Almost Back!

I leave for Disney in 18 days!

I put in availability to work 10-9:30 for two of the days I'm there (I'm only there for 4 entire days.) One of the people from scheduling called me today, asking about a shift with a 9:30 time, but I couldn't understand if she said 9:30 start time or 9:30 end time. Either way, I said I'd take it so I know I get at least one shift. I can't figure out where the shift is for if it starts at 9:30am since I left before I could get trained on teh new parade at Studios & I don't remember if character room has a shift that starts then. O well, I'll be able to see my schedule next Sunday.

I can't wait till I'm back! A few of my friends from my programs will be there then, so we're gonna try to meet up.

I'll probably post a short trip report when I get back. I leave for camp for the summer a week after I get back.

Long Time No Update

My post-Disney depression has hit full force. I'm going back for a long weekend 6 weeks from tomorrow, but that's still a long time.
One of my friends from my first program wants to do the program again next spring & now I want to go back then. I'm going to talk to my advisor to find out if it could count as the internship I need if I can get hospitality or concierge. The only problem I can see with it is the classroom portion of the internship isn't offered online, meaning I have to be in Milwaukee for my internship. Ive decided it's best to find out now before I even apply or anything.
I don't really have anything else Disney related. I'm working at girl scout camp again this summer, as the events specialist. It's a new position for me & I'm super excited for it.

Summer plans

Well, my interview for the summer alumni program went really well, but I won't be spending my summer at Disney after all. Recruiting called me the day after my interview to let me know that because of my record card, i'm not eligible to switch roles right now. I had 6 points, but couldn't have more than 5 to be able to switch. I don't think it would have been a problem if costuming were an option.
I've decided to try to go back for a long weekend right after I'm done with school, my last exam is over at 11:30 & my flight is at 1:30 that day. I get to see one of my best friends if I go then & I'll be able to work a few days to keep my seasonal status. If anyone reading this is looking to go down in may, let me know, I'm looking for someone to split the room at all stars with.

After Thoughts

I know I said I'd post when I got home & now I am.
I've been home for almost 2 weeks. I finished unpacking earlier this week. Going through everything made me do a lot of thinking about the program. I loved being there again, but it wasn't the same as my first program. I think a lot of it had to do with the people. My last program, all of the costumers were a pretty close group. This time, we didn't get really close & start spending a lot of time together until it was almost over. Sure, I'll miss them, but not in the same way that I miss my first program's group. Before I went this time, I told myself that I would have friends outside of costuming this time. My closest friends this time worked in busses & qsfb.
This program definitely helped me realize that although I want to work for Disney in the future, I might be best in a role other than costuming. I picked up a Christmas party shift & New Years Eve, handing out hats & horns to guests. I loved having that guest interaction that I don't get in costuming.

Today, applications were posted for the summer alumni program. I watched the e-presentation & applied right away. I was able to schedule an interview for tomorrow at 1:30pm. The only options for roles for the summer alumni program were merchandise, attractions, quick service food & beverage, custodial, & housekeeping. I chose merchandise, attractions, and qsfb.

I'll try to post after my interview and definitely after I hear something back.

It's Time to Say Goodbye

I know I haven't updated this in forever. I got busy with school & working so much that I barely had time for facebook, let alone blogging.
I didn't my extension or campus rep position. I was upset at first, but I've decided it's best for me to just go home & focus on school for awhile.
Today is my last day of work & I'm flying home Friday morning. It's been a sad week, a bunch of people left over the weekend, so we wen to ihop the night before many of them left. Im going to watch fantasmic one last time tomorrow night with a whole group that's leaving on Friday as well.
Since I haven't written in so long, I think I'll stop here or I'm gonna keep writing about everything that has happened since my last post. I'm thinking I'm gonna do a post once I get home with my thoughts about the program this time.

Holy Crap!

I've been slacking with the updates again. I titled this post "Holy Crap" because I've had several of those kinds of moments the past few weeks, especially the past few days.
Again, I've been working a ton of hours. I was only scheduled 45 hours, but I was going to be getting 11 hours of overtime. I worked from 6am to 8:30pm on Monday. I was exhausted by the time I got home. The only thing that made it worse was the locks to my apartment had been changed that day, & by the time I got home, I couldn't get a new key, so I didn't get into my apartment until 10:30.
My 21st birthday was on Tuesday. I had a pretty good day. Definitely better than my bday during my last program, but not as good as when I'd come for the weekend with my mom in high school. I got my new ID (without the Under 21 sticker!), and went to Magic Kingdom. I rode a few rides there, before deciding to come home for a little while. I ended up working on homework. I then went to Epcot for a little Food & Wine Festival. I had a few of the food things, & got the Grand Mariner Orange Slush from France. After that, we went to the Polynesian to watch Hallowishes from the beach.
I've been working on homework for my online classes a lot lately. I take it to work with me, I do it before work, and after work. I finish everything, I just feel like all I ever do lately is work and do homework. I haven't gone to the parks nearly as much this program as I did last time.
Last thing, in the housing email CPs get every week, they had the dates for the extension auditions. The auditions are November 3rd & 17th. I'm guessing I'll be able to apply to extend sometime in the next few weeks and know if I get to extend by the beginning of December. I'll also be hearing back about my campus rep application by the middle of November.

Almost 3 Weeks without an Update!

I havent updated this in almost 3 weeks! I've been super busy since then, so I think that's a pretty good reason.
I've been retrained at Block Party Bash & Fantasmic since I last updated, so I've been working one of those places pretty much every day. The day after I finished my training at Block Party, I was training someone. I have trained at Block Party at least once a week for the past 2 weeks. I'm training someone at Fantasmic next week Thursday, so that will be fun.
I picked up 2 extra shifts this week, so I'm working a total of 58 hours, before they take out for my lunches & stuff. I picked up a shift for next week, so I have 49 hours I think. I've also been doing my online classes, so my life pretty much consists of work & homework (which I usually take to work to do during my break.)
I went to the Halloween Party at MK last Saturday & it was AMAZING!! I love Halloween at Disney & it just made my week. Last Saturday was also the last time I went to a park. I'm thinking I'm gonna go to Studios for a little while before I work tonight. (I'm at Fantasmic at 3:30, so I've got a few hours.)
That's pretty much it for now. I'll try to update more often, but I'll definitely update around my birthday once I figure out what we're doing.
